Returning Library Items

Your membership at RGU Library has now expired. Please take this opportunity to return University property so that future students can have access to the same learning materials that you enjoyed during your time at RGU

Contact us if you have any questions about your library account or items that you still have on loan

Returning items in person

You can return items yourself or ask a friend or relative to drop them off if it is more convenient. You will receive a confirmation email once the items have been returned from your Library account

  • Items can be returned directly to the Library during Library opening hours, including at evenings and weekends
  • Please be aware that Library staff will not be on duty outside of the Service Desk hours noted on the opening hours pages linked above. Items may still be returned outside of Service Desk hours but security staff will be unable to answer any queries or take payment of overdue fees
  • Alternatively, a book return box is located in the foyer of the Sir Ian Wood Building. The box is accessible during building opening hours and staff at the SIWB reception can direct you to the box if required
  • Please note that the box is emptied once per day Monday-Friday so any items returned there will not immediately come off your Library account

Returning items by post

We recommend that items are returned in person where possible but recognise that this is not always possible, particularly for former students who do not live in Aberdeen. If returning items by post please note the following:

  • Items should be packaged securely using padded bags or a suitable box
  • Packages should be addressed to: University Library, Sir Ian Wood Building, Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen, AB10 7GJ
  • Items will remain on your Library account until received at RGU Library
  • We recommend using a tracked postal service and obtaining proof of postage. This should be retained until you have received an email advising that the items have been removed from your Library account
  • In the event of a package going missing it will be your responsibility as sender to investigate with the parcel carrier. The items will remain on your Library account until either returned or you receive compensation from the parcel carrier and use that to pay the replacement cost of the items
  • RGU Library are unable to reimburse any postage costs
