The following are examples of how to reference EU Legislation.
EU Treaties and Protocols
Older treaties were published in the C series. With some exceptions (such as the Lisbon Treaty), legislation is now published in the L series.

Examples:
Protocol to the Agreement on the Member States that do not fully apply the Schengen acquis—Joint Declarations [2007] OJ L129/35.
Consolidated Version of the Treaty on European Union [2008] OJ C115/13.
EU Regulations, Directives, Decisions, Recommendations and Opinions
Please note that the year precedes the running number in citations for Directives, but follows it when citing Regulations.

Examples:

Older EU Legislation
For the years 1952–72 (when there was no English edition of the Journal Officiel), refer where possible to the Special Edition of the OJ.
