Unit 2: Adding References
From EBSCOHost Databases
Use the following guidance when importing references from EBSCOHost databases.
You can copy this URL to share a direct link to this referencing template:
Once you identify the item you wish to add,
- Click on the title of the item you want to export.
- Select 'Export' from the right hand side of the screen.
- In the resulting screen, choose 'Direct Export to RefWorks'.
- Hit 'Save'.
Once you complete these steps, you will be directed to the RefWorks Import Screen

You can select several items from your results list, by clicking the blue folders next to the records, turning them yellow. To export your selection:
- Click 'Folder View' at the right hand side of the results list.
- Select the 'Export' button at the right hand side of the screen.
- Finally, 'Save' to proceed to the RefWorks Import screen.

You can also export a whole search if you wish, up to 25,000 results. If your search exceeds this number, it will include the first 25,000 results only.
To do this:
- Click 'Share' at the top of your results list.
- In the submenu, click 'E-mail a link to download exported results'.
- Select 'RIS Format' as the file format. Enter your email address in the E-mail to: box and click 'Send'. This will send an email with a link to download an RIS file to your chosen email address. Look out for an email sent from: support@ebsco.com.
Unlike the options above, this is not a direct export. Please consult our guidance on importing RIS files into RefWorks to proceed with adding your references.
