Changing RefWorks email and password

You must initially create your RefWorks account using an RGU email address, but you can change your email address (to a personal or work email) after your account is created.

Your new email will be the one that RefWorks recognises for login, and where any RefWorks-related communications will be sent to.

This is particularly helpful for alumni who wish to retain access to their RefWorks account post-graduation.

Any alumni who wish to restore access to their RefWorks account, or to set one up, should notify us at library.support@rgu.ac.uk.


Change RefWorks email

  • When signed into RefWorks, click your name in the top-right of the screen, then 'Settings'.
  • You will be prompted to re-enter your login credentials to proceed.
  • Once here, you can change the email provided in the relevant box, then click 'Save' to confirm.

Change RefWorks password

  • If logged into RefWorks, you can change your password within your RefWorks settings (see steps above to access these).
  • If logged out of RefWorks you can also use the 'Forgot your password' link on the RefWorks homepage.
