Unit 2: Adding References
From Other Databases
RGU Library's online collections contain hundreds of databases you can search for information. Some offer:
- Direct export to RefWorks: you can add references from the database using the RefWorks import menu.
- File export only: you will need to download your references in a file which can then be uploaded to RefWorks. Some databases which allow Direct Export will require you to use a File Export if exporting a lot of records at once. For these, see our guidance on importing RIS files into RefWorks.
- No in-built options for export: in these cases, you can:
- search LibrarySearch or Google Scholar for documents you find in these databases, which you can then import to RefWorks.
- Use Save to RefWorks
- upload PDF files
- You can create references manually.
Guidance elsewhere in this guide covers Reading Lists, LibrarySearch, and EBSCOHost databases.
We've also compiled some guidance on some other commonly used databases on the following page. If you have questions about a database, get in touch at library.support@rgu.ac.uk.
